Daniel Merriweather is homeward bound
Rating: 28/5/2009
One of Australia’s brightest talents, Daniel Merriweather, releases his hotly anticipated Mark Ronson produced debut album Love & War on Friday June 5. Taking time out of his demanding US and UK schedules, Daniel Merriweather will voyage home for a whirlwind promotional visit from June 22 to June 29.
It has been three long years since 26 year old Daniel Merriweather swapped the streets of Melbourne for the cosmopolitan bustle of Manhattan, downtown NYC. However it was across the Atlantic where his international prominence gathered speed. 2006 saw Daniel featured as the emotive voice of the Mark Ronson produced chart-busting cover of The Smiths ‘Stop Me’, the lead track from his chart topping ‘Version’ album.
Late last year Daniel gave the world an insight into his forthcoming debut album Love & War through the release of his first single “Change” featuring Wale, which subsequently entered the UK charts at #8. Originally planned as an underground street single, “Change” instantly connected with people and revealed the diverse sounds to come from his imminent album Love & War. 2009 has started to align the crossroads of Daniel’s determination, persistence and raw talent. His refined voice and poignant lyrics, helmed by Grammy Award winning producer Mark Ronson, deliver a standout debut album Love & War.
